Epidemiology Study on Poisoning in Patients Received Pre-hospital Emergency Services in Ghaemshahr, Iran

Background: Poisoning is an important public health issue and causes high mortality rate each year worldwide. Having epidemiological information can lead to proper planning for its prevention intervention. Objective: This study aims investigate the one-year prevalence of poisoning in patients received pre-hospital emergency services Ghaemshahr, Mazandaran, Iran. Materials Methods: a descriptive cross-sectional study. After reviewing medical files 12552 collected from Medical Emergency Accident Management Center Iran 2016, 398 poisoned were found. Their data including age, gender, place residence, agent cause poisoning, therapeutic interventions extracted recorded. Results: Of patients, 17.3% had treatment; 271 (68.1%) male 127 (31.9%) female. The most common was abuse (58.1%); 58.3% poisonings caused by use medications rest non-medication poisonings. Tramadol (29.6%) medication that poisoning. Among poisonings, substances (22.6%) alcohol (13.1%). route exposure (toxins) ingestion. Conclusion: Due increasing such as tramadol among young people considering intentional women, there are need psychological support, monitoring medicine distribution, creating social recreational opportunities
